Movement Intelligence Through a Trauma Lens of Somatic Experiencing (R) January 2025 15 contact hours
Why would we explore movement work through a trauma healing lens? Somatic Experiencing is the body centered, trauma healing work of Peter Levine, PhD. Bottom up, not top down. Not psychotherapy, not telling stories or leaning into content around overwhelm. We return to the body to establish safety and ease, repair boundaries, develop agency, and work with overcoupling and undercoupling dynamics. Using the flashlight of movement, is a gentle, effective path to support self healing. In the class we will explore the Movement Intelligence work of Ruthy Alon, PhD, with consideration and sensitivity to the five channels of the nervous system: Sensation, Image, Behavior, Affect (emotion), and Meaning. This class is open to anyone seeking to become more aware of these aspects of the nervous system and discover ways to support their own nervous system recovery by using movement. Gentle, easy, painless movement that is immediately effective and supportive. Please contact me with any questions about the class or how it might be a right fit for your needs. 15 contact hours.
